A New Approach to Multicultural Marketing
Posted by Joshua Dysart, Manager, Corporate Communications

Over the past few weeks, the advertising industry has had continuing dialogue on the idea of general market agencies encroaching on the "turf" of Hispanic agencies. I had the opportunity to sit down with Ken Muench, SVP and director of strategic planning for Draftfcb Chicago’s multicultural practice, to get his perspective on whether or not the industry needs to fight this change or adjust to the realities of the new marketplace.

Absolutely, Ken:

The General Market is becoming more  Multicultural:
- Hollywood has become more Hispanic than ever.
- Our food is more diverse.
- Music embrace foreign artist, languages and instruments.
- We even have a Multicultural President!!!

So, you are on the right spot, here: General Market Agencies cannot ignore the Hispanic population anymore. I just wonder when are they going to start hiring good Hispanic planners, after all, as you said, consumers are consumers.

If you are planning to hire one, just let me know; I can't wait to bring my expertise and unique perspective to a big shop in the General Market.

Best,
